Upcoming Event: Camp NaNoWriMo

Every October authors all over the world start to gear up and rush to get ahead. Why? Simple. November is Nation Novel Writing Month and many of those authors plan on taking the challenge to write 50K words in just 30 days.

Of course not every writer can make the commitment. Things happen in this world of ours, whether its bad timing on a big project or a sudden problem with an internet connect, things happen that block us from that worth while challenge. That's why for several years now NaNoWriMo has also had a summer camp. Typically two months are picked out, around April or July, and the challenge is set forth. Next month, July 2013, is the second installment of Camp NaNoWriMo this year.

Camp NaNoWriMo has most of the same features as NaNoWriMo. Fewer writers take part, but there are still a great deal of other authors to chat with. You can also find yourself set up with some writing buddies in the cabins.

I plan on taking the challenge next month. While I have yet to write a full 50K words in such a short time I find that the challenge itself can really help generate some great ideas and motivation to get a story started and well on its way to being finished.

So the question now is: Can you write 50K words in just one month?
