MidWeek Tease: Lost Relic

MidWeekTease

So it's the middle of the week and everyone needs a little pick me up. This week I'm sharing a snippet from my interactive romance novel, Lost Relic. This is a blog hop so make sure to hop around and don't miss a single tease!

Lost Relic snippet:

Nipping at her bottom lip before blazing a trail of kisses down her jawline, Alex gently tugged at the back of her blouse.

“Are you sure this is wise?” she asked when she felt his hand slip under the edge of her blouse.

He paused, lips still trained over the junction of her neck and shoulder. Lillian could almost feel his eyes roll up to look at her when he asked, “You’ve done this before, Lillian, haven’t you?”

Letting out a shaky breath, Lillian tightened her fingers in his shirt and whispered, “Perhaps once or twice.”

His lips dropped a quick kiss on her skin and he said, “We’re both adults here and I won’t lie, I really want you spread out on that bed.” The deep, hungry tone in his voice was enough to make her quiver. Unexpected excitement caused her heart to race and she realized that she didn’t really care if it was proper or not.

And there you have it. You can find out more about Lost Relic or buy your own copy at Amazon!

Book Review: Possessing the Witch by Elle James

I pulled this book from the TBR shelf and I'm glad my first read of the year didn't disappoint.elow the city Possessing the Witch by Elle James was a fun read and offered a few different twists to classic tropes.

About the Books

Possessing the Witch by [James, Elle]A spirit witch and a recluse must unite to save their city

Gryph Leone keeps a low profile because he considers himself a freak of nature. But when his powerful senses detect a woman in distress, his lion takes over. Before he knows it, he's in a losing battle with a wolf shifter. And then a beautiful woman with bewitching eyes and her own secrets finds him.

Selene Chattox didn't know what—or who—she'd find when she followed her premonition to the river's edge. When she discovers Gryph, the spirit witch brings the injured stranger home, determined to resist the intense desire he evokes in her. But as he heals, they know fate has brought them together as they track a ruthless killer through the tunnels of Chicago. And as their passion ignites, so does the danger…

The story starts with leading lady, Selene, having a terrifying dream. She wakes up and instantly jumps into action to rescue the victim she saw in the dream. After finding help for the first victim Selene is drawn to rescue someone else entirely, the hero, Gryph.

Gryph is a werelion and ends up badly hurt trying to help the victim Selene saw in her dreams. He ends up injured and naked in Selene's bed and instantly sparks start to fly.

The Review

Personally it took me a few chapters to get into the story, but once I did I was hooked. The author creates magic filled world that flows well. While the traditional pack is featured in the story Gryph is far removed from it and his own "pack" below the city. This twist on the pack idea was fun to read. Instead of a pack of weres Gryph's "pack" is a group of misfits just trying to live as normal a life as possible.

Selene is a witch along with her four sisters. The five of them hold the powers of the elements: Earth, Fire, Water, Air and Spirit. The leading lady has the power of spirit which allows her to feel others feelings and thoughts. Selene can also influence the thoughts and feelings of others, which sets up some nice drama on the developing relationship between Selene and Gryph.

Gryph has his own commitment issues that at times seemed a bit much, but didn't take away from the story.

Overall I really loved this story and recommend it to anyone who enjoys a city based paranormal romance.

This read counts towards both the Paranormal Reading Challenge and the Witch & Witchcraft Reading Challenge.

Jumping into 2017

A happy New Year to all!

With 2016 behind us and a brand new year it's time to set goals and challenge ourselves once again. This year I plan on doing reading challenges again. I also plan on getting a lot of writing done.

I'm sooo close to having a first draft for my Dreamweaver story that I can see the finish line. That's one draft I plan on finishing within the first weeks of the new year. The entire series is planned out and parts of the second novel are drafted. I plan on having at least the second novel completely complete this year. Maybe started on the third.

In my writing world I also have a number of novellas I would like to see finished up and/or published. So my goal is to submit at least two of my stand alone novellas this year. One is complete and I'll be submitting it this week and I have a second that's near completion. I hope to have it finished by late winter.

I also plan on reading more this year. As much as I love writing I love reading too. I've decided to join three reading challenges this year.

The first is the Paranormal Reading Challenge. There are no levels or rankings for this challenge, but I plan on reading at least half a dozen paranormal romances this year. Should be easy. I have that many sitting on my TBR shelf.

http://addictedtoromance.org/2016/12/22/2017-out-of-this-world-reading-challenge/

The second challenge is going to be more challenging. I want to expand my sci-fi reading so I chose the Out of This World Reading Challenge. I'm aiming for between 5 and 10 books, putting my in the Beam Your Way Into Outer Space level. Know any good Sci-Fi stories?

2017 Witches & Witchcraft Reading Challenge

I'm going to be joining the Witches & Witchcraft Reading Challenge this year. I just love it so much. I'm once again aiming for around 5 witchy books, placing me in the initiate level. I've already started one witchy book this morning and a plus is that most of these witchy stories are going to count towards my paranormal challenge too.

If you have any great books to recommend be sure to leave a comment!
