Jupiter Ascending Review

Space travel, hover boots, adventure, royalty and of course love. Really what more could I ask for in a sci-fi adventure love story?? Jupiter Ascending made it to my keep it shelf right beside Stardust. Why? Because it's rare to find a great romantic movie that's just another "chic flic" or even has some action in it. Before I share more of my love for the movie here's a little bit about it.

"Jupiter Jones (Mila Kunis) was born under signs that predicted future greatness, but her reality as a woman consists of cleaning other people's houses and endless bad breaks. Caine (Channing Tatum), a genetically engineered hunter, arrives on Earth to locate her, making Jupiter finally aware of the great destiny that awaits her: Jupiter's genetic signature marks her as the next in line for an extraordinary inheritance that could alter the balance of the cosmos."

This space opera was awesome. The lead woman, Jupiter, rising from the simple life of an illegal immigrant cleaning lady to the life of an heiress was a common idea, but it was wonderfully done. Enter Caine, the sexy hunter who has a sweet set of hover boots, to save the day and you've got a fiery mix of adventure and a budding love.

Jupiter Ascending had more than just love and adventure. It also had some really funny moments. Most of these moments belonged to Jupiter's immigrant family. "You don't treat your cousin like a chicken!" had me rolling with laughter. Another moment between Caine and another hunter reminded me of the man bond that was so easily understandable and logical it could be nothing but funny.

All in all, I loved this movie. It ran a little long and had a few false endings, but those come with the genre. So if you love an adventure love story with a twist check out Jupiter Ascending.
