It's November again and once again I'm taking on the challenge of writing 50k words in just 30 days. With so many projects already started and a real need to finish at least one of them I'm going Rebel this year and working on the Dreamweaver stories.
Two of the stories are complete and just need a lot of revision and some extra scenes added, but the third and final story in the trilogy is far from complete. Instead of just focusing on the one story I'll be working on Noble Intent (story #3) and on the extra care Sweeter Dreams and Shadow's Fall (story #1 and #2).
The game plan is to write on story #3 as much as possible and on the off days when my muse just doesn't like me I'll be working on story #1 and #2. That should lead to 50k by the end of the month and hopefully a finish trilogy!
Anyways, here's a bit about the stories.
Sweeter Dreams
The only thing Karlee Bolt has on her mind was her upcoming beach
vacation, but her plans are derailed by dark shadows and a knight with a
brilliant bright light. Karlee is suddenly thrown into a battle she has
no way of fighting.
A Watcher by right, DjinnShay Court is a warrior that protects the
balance between the realms. When the Dreamweaver is suddenly dropped
into his lap Court must change tactics. No longer a warrior that
standing between the realms, he must lead Karlee through the Dream Realm
and show her there’s more to dreams than fantasy.
Shadows’ Fall
Running from an arranged marriage, DjinnRa Jade is hiding out in the
Waking Realm and performing the duties of a Watcher. When she crosses
the path of a lonely child without family she must put her own interests
aside and return to the Dream Realm.
Stuck in the shadow of his enemy, Kree is left with nothing more than
his voice to fight back with. He’ll soon find that warring clans and
nightmares from the Realm Beyond are the least of his worries inside the
Djinn Clan’s royal line. Can he and Jade come together and protect the
destiny of the Dreamweaver child.
Noble Intent
Searching for a place to belong, Morgan finds herself leading a group
fellow lucid dreamers in a fight against the Realm Beyond. Stumbling
across an outcast member of the Djinn Clan, she’s faced with the choice
of trusting him or turning him away from his last hope.
Lukous is desperate to fix his mistakes, even if no one trusts him to
do it. He never thought his best chance at redemption would be from the
very people he betrayed and the beautiful woman leading them into
battle.
That odd looking cover there is just something I threw together to help my muse come around. Images help me work through stories.

Thoughts on Cold and Flu Season
Today I would love it if a friend or family member would show up with a box of tissues, a gallon of orange juice and 2k words written and edited. That would be awesome...
I woke up this morning feeling like someone had taken a hammer to my head and sat a cinder block on my chest. I think it's a cold and I'll be okay in a few days. Colds happen, but it does bring up a topic I don't talk about often. You see, I'm a work at home mom. I don't work outside the house because child care costs are damn high (even though it's barely enough pay for care providers) and finding a first shift job that would let me see to all my daughter's needs is really hard.
Like many authors, fiction writing isn't my only job. I've been known to pick up freelance writing work, graphic design jobs and even the rare editing job. I also have a long list of easy lil earners that I do when I have down time and can't be at my desk. So I'm almost always doing something to pad my income. There is no sick pay, vacation time or health insurance. All of that is on me and I knew what I signed up for.
There are lots of low paying jobs that don't offer those things either, so I know those who work outside the house can understand too. Even when we're sick we have to find a way to work. Which brings to mind all the very real problems of working while you're sick. My brain is muddled and I often have to reread pages and pages of writing over and over, because sometimes the words get muddled too.
Before my daughter came along I worked in retail. Going in to work with money while dealing with being sick was not fun. Those were the days I double and triple counted the money to make sure the drawer wouldn't end up short. It was a nightmare.
So to the point. If you have a friend or family member who isn't sick enough to have to stay in bed (or have the luxury of staying in bed), that doesn't mean they aren't suffering. They're probably trying their best to work. With cold and flu season fast approaching remember them my lovely readers. Hand them an orange juice or pick up that pair of socks that was left on the floor.
Well, those are my thoughts for the day.

Full Moon New Release (Oct 2017)
The spooks are out and disrupting my whole schedule. Better late than never though. So find a safe space, sit back with a great new book and enjoy the Scary Season!
Heart of Crystal by Lauren D.M. Smith
Ever since her family was kidnapped, Azara, a woman of fire mage stock,
has survived with a warrior's will and the hope of one day finding them.
Whispers of their fate have finally led her to the Empire, where her
brother and sister are now prized possessions of His Celestial Majesty's
court. Unable to immediately negotiate their freedom, Azara reluctantly
agrees to the Emperor's suggestion: accompany his devoted magus Jin
across their rival's border in search of other fire mages while her
siblings remain in the Emperor's hands.
Posing as married tea merchants, Azara and Jin's masquerade begins. For a fierce young woman devoted to a heartening cause, and a man beholden to his duties, it's an uneasy alliance—but one that quickly turns passionate.
It's also a dangerous proposition, for although the attraction between Jin and Azara is real, both the Emperor and Azara have ulterior motives. It's only when Azara explores her unique powers and puts her faith in Jin that their fight for family—and for their very destiny—can succeed.

Revisiting Stories
Over the summer I had a lot going on. My daughter was out of school and a friend's daughter stayed with us during the day. It was an interesting summer filled with crafts, hiking and a good bit of water fights, but all that distraction pulled me away from my main writing projects. I found myself starting the third story in the dream realm stories I've been working on. I also ended up with an outline for another interactive story.
But I think the one writing project over the summer that I enjoyed working on the most was Smoke Hunt. A follow up short story of the Saving Grace Saga, this story took two side characters from the novels and slammed them together in an attempt to show the world after the big reveal. The two characters are werewolves and end up mated together, but this revisit brought so much back.
In the Saving Grace Saga, the world is filled with werewolves, witches and a Federal Agency that has been dubbed the "Witch Hunters." The witches have their covens and the werewolves have their packs. I still remember and know the characters even though they haven't appeared in any other stories in years. The fact that the only thing revealed at the end of the series was that the Witch Hunters had been disbanded bothered me a little.
So Smoke Hunt is almost a wrap up of that. Yes, the Federal Witch Hunters were shut down, but that didn't get rid of the hate. Rodney and Lizzy see this first hand as they work together to defend a small Native American pack.
I learned from completing this short story that the world is far from finished. Instead it's still evolving, like any great fictional world will. I may never write any more stories surrounding the Saving Grace Saga, but it's nice to know that I can dip in a toe from time to time and check up on everyone.

MidWeek Tease: Witch Hunt
It's time for a MidWeek Tease and this morning I've pulled a snippet from my first novel, Witch Hunt. This is Aidan's first look at leading lady, Rei.
Witch Hunt excerpt:
Aidan had only tracked her for twenty minutes before he
spotted her fire. The young woman looked like an old-school Earth worshipper
with her arms stretched out to the large fire. He was a little shocked to find
a witch on the hunting grounds but figured she had trekked too far from the national
park bordering the land.
When he saw her standing down there with her pale skin
glowing in the firelight, he had decided to settle in and watch for a while
before interrupting. She was a rare creature of beauty standing boldly in
nothing but the gifts nature had given her. She looked like a golden goddess
praying to the stars. Staring down from a low-lying ridge, Aidan, in his shape
as a large gray wolf, watched her stretch up from her toes all the way to her
fingertips. He lay on his stomach, front paws folded under his muzzle. Her
short dark hair drifted lazily in the cool breeze. The firelight caught teasing
hints of scarlet highlights in her hair, creating a glowing halo around her
face. He was just starting to admire her full, perky breasts and lovely flat
stomach when a surge of energy shot through his body like a shock. The energy
had the same feeling to it as the explosive energy he had felt the pack shaman
call up on occasion. He jumped up to his paws, transforming back into a man,
intent on yelling out for her to stop. Just as his hands had cupped around his
mouth, the Earth answered her call.
Aidan had only one thought when he saw the nude woman
actually manage to call up the Wild Hunt. That crazy bitch! As the woman
ran off into the darkness of the forest, Aidan started to quickly move higher
up the ridgeline. He dropped his hands to the ground and again transformed into
the sleek wolf. The wolf gave pursuit, tracking the woman, searching for the
boundary set in place by the hunt. He knew if this crazy woman found the pack’s
ceremonial grounds the power she found would eat her alive.
I hope you were intrigued and don't forget to hop on over to the other great blogs!
Peace and Love
After the bloody murder of her brother, Rei finds herself on the run
from the coven that killed him. A powerful Earth witch, Rei searches for
a natural well of magic to avenge her brother’s death, even if it costs
her life. However, standing between her and her goal is an alluring
wolf.
Aidan never took the time or interest to look for his mate, but when the young witch shows up on pack hunting grounds his solitary life is turned upside down. Now, he must find a way to protect his pack and the woman that fate has handed him.

What he needs is Sophia.
Alchemist Sophia Metzger traveled to Loch Arach in search of knowledge. She never dreamed she'd learn to do battle, ride through the stars on the back of a dragon, or catch the eye of a Highland laird. Night's Caress by Mary Hughes
When artist Brie Lark left her vampire ex and her straitjacket of a hometown to breathe free in New York City, she promised herself two things: she’d never go back to Meiers Corner, and no more vampires. The last thing she expected—or wanted—was to be sent back home on an assignment. But her boss at the FBI needs her undercover on a murder case, working with a black-haired, black-eyed giant god of a man who’s her idea of perfection, except for one thing—he’s a vampire.
FBI Special Agent Seb Rikare is an ancient vampire hardened by loss. He’s cut all emotions to protect himself and leads a deliberately steady, almost sterile life. The brash young woman forced to pose as his lover irritates him, with her jangling bracelets and colorful hair. But as much as she irritates him, he finds himself drawn to her lively spirit and he’s tempted to make fantasy a reality.

Genre Confusion
Romance, erotica and erotic romance. Touchy subject, but let's be clear: One is not the other and each have their places and I don't feel anyone should be judged for reading any of it. Read whatever you want! It's a free country and no one should judge you on your reading habits.
Anyways, onward...
Over the last few years I've had people tell me all romance is just porn. For those folks, romance is a story about emotions and building a relationship between character. If the story focuses on the relationship more than the sex, it's romance, graphic scenes or not. I've had people say the romance of today is just fluffy erotica or, yep, porn. Again, romance is about emotions and relationships. Deal with it. You don't have to read it if you don't want to, but at least understand it before trying to talk about it.
Now, on to erotica. Erotica is a story that is meant to arouse the reader. It puts them in a sexy fantasy style of story. There is nothing wrong with reading erotica, but if it isn't your cup of tea it's just not for you. I have found some erotica stories that were really well written. They took the reader into the fantasy and euphoric bless was achieved. With that said, at least learn the difference between the genres.
Finally, erotic romance. This is an odd ball in my post. Erotic romance is defined differently by different readers, authors, publishers and whoever else may feel like defining it. Some people will say it's just really steamy romance. That could work for a nice definition. So could the definition that it's a story that focuses on emotions, the relationship and graphic sex helps that relationship move along. I've read books that do this. Some of them good some of them not so much. Personally, it depends on the author's ability and style.
These are blurry times we live in. A genre could prove to sell really well and you have authors that rush to take advantage of that genre. This leads to some great books and some crappy books. However, no matter how popular a genre becomes that does not, REPEAT, does not change the genre. Learn the differences before jumping into a conversation, because a romance author may not enjoy hearing romance novels being called erotica. And an erotica author may not enjoy the ranting a raving of a reviewer who grabbed up their book expecting a Happily Ever After.
Peace and love!

Just Beyond Daybreak Teaser
As promised, here is a tease from my up coming novella, Just Beyond Daybreak. The story starts with Meredith, the leading lady, searching through Magic Town.
Magic Town was a dingy maze of
alleyways tucked away in a section of Atlanta that never made it to the travel
guides. It was crawling with some of the lowest members of society and if a
person had to be honest it also had quite a few members of high society slinking
around from time to time. It was a place that Meredith Blackburn despised
venturing into. After four nights of searching questionable bars and occult
shops, the young witch found herself standing in front of a small Chinese shop
called Heavenly Herbs. Flexing her fingers, she could feel the flow of magic in
her veins cycling painfully slow and it only reminded her how important it was
for her to find the man she was looking for.
Meredith despised the man just as much
as the area she knew she would find him in. Malcolm Blackwood was one of those
high-society brats who had slunk down to Magic Town after displeasing his
family. At least Meredith liked to think that he slunk, but entered with a
cocky stride would fit his character more. Malcolm had been the second-son
playboy that every family dreaded, but for some reason he held a type of charm
that made everyone want to be near him. For all her detest of the man, Meredith
was no different. Just like every other woman, she’d been drawn to him too.
But the Blackburns and the Blackwoods
had been at each other’s throats for more than a millennium. It was family
bickering left over from their roots in the old country, and that left little
room for feelings besides distrust. So Meredith ignored the attraction and
focused on the man’s arrogant attitude.
Nonetheless, he was one of the best
magical trackers on the East Coast, and that was what she needed.
That's your tease! Hope it caught your interest. Stop back by tomorrow for the full cover reveal and to find out the winner of the giveaway!

Something
was tickling her nose. Brushing it aside, Meredith nuzzled deeper into the
comfortable pillow. She still felt the heavy tug of sleep, but another tickle
traced over her ear. Meredith groaned and tried to swat it away, but was
instead greeted with a man’s deep chuckle. “Come on. It’s time to get to
business.”
The
sound of his voice made her eyes shoot open. Meredith didn’t sit up at first.
She just stared at her surroundings. The bold red comforter with black vines
was definitely hers and so was the lamp on the night stand. “Malcolm, what are
you doing in my bedroom?” she asked, finally rolling over to look at the man
leaning over her.
He
was close. So close that she could make out the golden flakes that dotted his
blue eyes. Strands of blond hair brushed downwards, trying to hide the
merriment that danced around those golden flakes, and a grin graced his full
lips. “I’m trying to wake you up, Sleeping Beauty,” he answered, sitting back a
little further away from her. “You’ve been asleep the better part of the morning.”

The Handmaid's Tale
I just recently found myself watching The handmaid's Tale Hulu special and while I grew up reading dystopia novels and wondering what if, I have to admit this series hits a button. The thing is I see similarities between the Handmaid's Tale and the Saving Grace Saga.
Yes, the Saving Grace Saga is about witches and werewolves. Very far from the more than real reality in The Handmaid's Tale, but they are close still. In the Saving Grace Saga the U.S. Government passes a law banning all non-one God religions. This leads to the persecutions of pagans and atheists. It's also used as a cover to hunt down the more supernatural element hidden from societies view.
While in The Handmaid's Tale the government has become completely and utterly controlled by the religious extremists, in the Saving Grace Saga it is smaller and doesn't affect the day to day lives of average Christian people. This hidden control is what scares me the most.
In The Handmaid's Tale there is little hidden. It seems clear thus far that the signs leading to the take over of the people was coming. Signs that most people would see in today's world. I promise there are too many people in the country who disagree with the subtle changes in government shown in The Handmaid's Tale to let that happen.
And if we can't stop it, we can fight it. I have no disagreement with any religion really. As long as it is treated fairly. As long as it is kept separate from government. That's not just an opinion. It's written into the Constitution of our country.
When writing the Saving Grace Saga the world was a little more crazy for me. My daughter was running around being a happy child. People told me this lifestyle and that lifestyle was wrong for raising a child in. Not because I was neglecting my child or harming my child, but because I was exposing her to life. To people who love her who also happen to have different religions and different sexual orientations than them.
That influenced the world in the Saving Grace Saga. Instead of an upfront take over like in The Handmaid's Tale, it was just an act of law that changed things, targeted groups that were different that threw the country into a downward spiral.
The stories are vastly different and yet play to a similar fear that people have. Thankfully it also gives us hope that we'll see something like this coming before it's too late.

Full Moon Releases (May 2017)
Last month was hectic and I missed the Full Moon release post. Sorry! I'm a day or so late this month too, but here are a few of the hot new releases. Enjoy!
A Fire in the Blood by Amanda Ashley
“I see a man. He is old. Very old. He will come into your life in a moment of danger. He will watch over you and protect you.” The gypsy’s hand gripped Tessa’s tighter. “He will bring you death,” she whispered, her voice like the rustle of dry leaves. “And life.”
Ten years later, when Andrei Dinescu saves Tessa from a vicious attacker, she has no idea that the handsome stranger the gypsy fortune teller predicted is not a hunter but a seven-hundred-year-old vampire. Darkly powerful, unbelievably compelling, he is obviously pursuing Tessa, but is it her love he's after or her blood?
Released April 25th by Kensington
When Danger Bites by Heather Long
Buttoned-up Corporal Kaitlyn Amador is dangerous on every level. As a human, she poses a threat to Marine Captain Jax Raymond’s special Force Recon unit. Though the team has a reputation among the other recon units, only their commanding officer knows their secret. As a woman, the danger posed is entirely different. Jax can survive the temptation for only so long before his wolf takes over and pursues what it wants.
Military intelligence specialist Corporal Kaitlyn Amador is the first woman in the Marines to be assigned to a recon team. And everyone’s watching her. Her mission? Not only prove herself worthy of her place in the group, but uncover the mystery of why Bravo Team is so successful. A mission that gets more difficult every time she’s near Jax...
Released May 8th by Entangled Publishing
Soul Mates: 6 Ghostly Romances
Cursed wedding gowns, haunted houses, and mischievous ghosts wreak havoc as romance brews in this value-priced digital bundle.
The Bride’s Curse: Three brides in a row return a gorgeous vintage wedding dress to Kelly Andrews’s Wedding Bliss store, claiming it’s cursed. Kelly thinks it’s nonsense, but these returns are bad for business, so she’d better get to the bottom of the problem. Researching the gown, she meets Brett Atwell, the handsome nephew of the dress’s original owner, and a mischievous spirit sends the two of them on a goose chase for a groom who went missing decades ago. Will love get its due at long last?
Always and Forever Love: Lacy Aegar is comfortable living with her husband’s ghost as they raise their son and run her PI business. That is, until Jackson Carter, the son of powerful and influential business tycoon, starts siphoning her business. But he has an ulterior motive along with his sexy smile, and soon Lacy will have to come to grips not only with her business plans but her feelings about love as well.
The Kindred: When it comes to being psychic, Janice Kelly is the best of the best. But she didn’t foresee falling in love with Adrian while fleeing the anger of thwarted ghosts in a haunted house.
His Lass Wears Tartan: Independent Rogue Bruce enjoys running a Scottish bed-and-breakfast with the ghosts that walk the halls. Then Bruce MacKenzie, the local heartthrob, suddenly begins hanging around while roguish Jonathan Olson arrives at the castle to teach a writing seminar. With two men after the heart she’d thought safely locked away, Rogue is torn. But when things start to take a sinister turn, only true love can save the day.
Jennifer by Moonlight: Lucy Dorset came to Moorgate as the happy bride of a dedicated young doctor. But she soon discovers that the old stone house is inhabited by a pale and lovely ghost, a victim of a fatal romantic triangle long ago. It’s possible the unhappy spirits of Moorgate are pushing Lucy toward a reenactment of a violent, century-old tragedy—and she alone must rid the house of the menacing presence threatening her marriage.
That Ol’ Team Spirit: Someone’s haunting the Sharks’s stadium and creating some major league mischief. So psychic Peg Noonan and her granddaughter Trish are determined to discover who’s menacing their concessions stand. With the help of Trish’s high school love, sportswriter Rob Hanks, they just might have a ghost of a (second) chance.
Coming May 29th from Adams Media
Burn For Me by Cynthia Eden
Eve Bradley was undercover looking for a story, not a cause. But something about the man they called Subject Thirteen got her involved. The scientists said he was a devil, and they had a decent case: Terrifying power. A bad attitude. And looks that could lead anyone to sin. . .
Cain O'Connor knows the minute he catches her candy scent that Eve could drive him wild. But she's a threat--in a way no one has been for him in years. She's safer away from him, too. But with a powerful conspiracy determined to shut Eve up for good, there's no time to argue. All they can do is trust their instincts--and their hearts. . .
